Two weeks on the bestseller list!

So I know I’ve been bad about posting lately.   Since the tour ended I’ve been back at work on the new book.   But I wanted to let everyone know that The Midnight House is #12 on the newest NY Times hardcover fiction bestseller list (in print on March 7).   That’s down from #9 in its debut week — not a surprise.  Typically, the first week is the strongest, as a new book gets publicity, reviews, and front of store placement, before slowly losing its moment in the sun.   (There are exceptions — The Help, a huge hit from Putnam, my publisher, steadily grew throughout 2009 — but they are very rare.)

Anyway, I want to thank everyone at Putnam for their hard work, and everyone out there who’s bought the book — please keep spreading the word!   I’m hoping for one more week…

I live and work in Vietiane Laos and books here are hard to find. I just received a copy of the Faithful Spy and can’t put it down. Well that’s not true, I put it down to check your website and have dinner. You have another fan. Thanks. You are brightening my day and lengthening my night. Will buy the others.
