CIA agent John Wells returns, in a cutting-edge novel of modern suspense from the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of The Faithful Spy.

Early one morning, a retired CIA operative is shot to death in the street. That night, a former Army Ranger is gunned down at his doorway. The next day, Wells gets a call. Come to Langley. Now.

The victims were part of a ten-member interrogation team that operated out of a secret base in Poland called the Midnight House. For almost two years, they put the screws to the toughest jihadis, men thought to have knowledge of imminent threats. The interrogators used whatever means necessary. When they were disbanded, they were given medals for their heroism, Prozac for their nightmares. Now Wells must find out who is killing them. Islamic terrorists are the likeliest explanation, and Wells goes underground in Cairo to seek them out. But the trail of blood he follows will lead him and his boss, Ellis Shafer, to a place they wouldn´t have imagined-and leave Wells facing the hardest of questions about the men of the Midnight House.

Berenson´s work has been called “superior entertainment” (The Washington Post), “heart-stopping adventure” (USA Today), and “a series in the first rank of international thrillers” (Booklist). He is one of the world´s best new thriller writers-and he is just getting started.

  1. Hi, I never wrote to any author till now after reading their novels. And I read a lot. But this is the first time I m finding a character whose adventures are believable. John wells is the most well written spy. Congratulate for that. Ur research on middle east and Islamic terrorism is commendable. Oh forgot to tell u, I m from Assam, India. If u love tea, then probably u have heard Assam tea. Eagerly waiting for ur new john wells novel, hope he does not become too old. I request u to base one of his novel on india Pakistan conflict or India China conflict . ur research will make it enjoyable read , I m sure. Thanks
